Best Winter Brunch Food Recipes ideas

Here are our fave quick and easy winter themed brunch food ideas for a Christmas brunch party, from sweet to savoury options that are just right for a holiday themed brunch! From elegant croissants to fun festive pastries and pinwheels too, we hope you like our ideas!

1. Santa hat or bobble hat cinnamon rolls

These cute cinnamon roll Santa hats can be made to fit a holiday theme - or just ice them pink or any other colour in order to turn them into cute winter bobble hats! Using premade dough means these cute hats are almost bake ready and will be super quick and easy to make for your brunch occasion.

You could even make a savoury pastry option, with a ham and cheese filling, using cream cheese instead of white frosting, proscuitto instead of red icing and mozzarella balls for the pom poms!

Makes: 8 cinnamon rolls

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 13 minutes

You will need

• 8-count package cinnamon rolls

• 1 container white or cream cheese icing

• Red food colouring (or your chosen colour if making bobble hats)

• 4 marshmallows

To begin, preheat the oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Remove the cinnamon rolls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, at least one inch apart. Use your hands to shape each cinnamon roll into a triangle shape.

Then bake for 11 to 13 minutes, until golden brown. If the cinnamon rolls spread as the bake, use two spatulas to press the rolls back into the triangle shape immediately after removing them from the oven while they’re still hot. Allow the cinnamon rolls to cool to room temperature.

Once they are cooled, spread a line of white icing along the bottom of each triangle, then tint the remaining icing with red food colouring.

Spread the red icing over the rest of the cinnamon roll,

Cut each marshmallow in half with scissors and press it into the top of each roll before serving.

Tips and tricks! For making bobble hats, use any food colouring of your choosing to make them different colours - this will make them look less like Santa hats, so you can make them for parties outside of the holidays and enjoy baking them all winter long!

Another tip is to coat the marshmallows in a light layer of icing, then dip them face down into some dessicated coconut or shredding coconut - leaving one side uncovered to stick them down atop the icing - this will make the pom poms look extra fluffy!

Alternatively, you could even glaze each marshmallow in icing, then dip face down in white sanding sugar for extra sparkle! Keep one side uncovered, so that you can fix it to the hat.
