How to make No Bake Oreo Penguins

Here is how to make Oreo penguin cookies, a really cute no bake winter party snack or festive treat. There’s something undeniably fun about turning simple Oreos into adorable little penguins for the holidays!

These Easy Christmas Penguin Oreos require no baking, just a little melting, dipping, and decorating. They make a great holiday party snack, gift box addition, or fun activity to do with kids on a cozy December afternoon.

Each little penguin has its own personality, and decorating them feels like pure holiday magic. The mix of chocolate, peppermint, and creamy Oreo center makes them irresistible. They’re perfect for Christmas cookie exchanges, classroom treats, or as a sweet surprise on a dessert platter. This recipe makes 24 penguins.

You will need

• 1 package Oreos
• 1 bag chocolate melting wafers
• 1 bag white chocolate candy melts
• Candy eyes
• Orange mini M&M’s
• Peppermint candies (for earmuffs)
• Sour candy ropes (for earmuff band)

To begin, melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate wafers in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth and silky.

Dip the Oreos: Using a fork, dip each Oreo into the melted chocolate, coating it completely. Try to work one at a time, so that you have enough time to decorate each one before the chocolate sets.

Gently shake off the excess and place on a parchment-lined tray. Let them set slightly before decorating.

Add the Penguin Body: Place one white chocolate candy melt toward the bottom center of each chocolate-covered Oreo to form the penguin’s belly.

Decorate the Face: While the chocolate is still soft, add two candy eyes above the white belly.

Cut an orange mini M&M in half and place one piece in the center to make a tiny penguin beak.

Create the Earmuffs: Place one peppermint candy on each side of the penguin’s “head” for earmuffs.

Use a small piece of sour candy rope to connect them across the top like a headband.

Allow the Oreos to sit until the chocolate is fully set. You can speed this up by placing them in the fridge for about 10 minutes. Serve once the chocolate is set!

Tips and tricks! For little ones, try replacing the peppermints with mini Oreos (before making the penguins, melt some red candy melts, coat the mini Oreos and let them set - then use them to decorate the penguins) - for a less chokeable alternative.

A great twist on the Oreo earmuff alternative is to dip the mini Oreos in white melted chocolate, then arrange on a baking sheet and sprinkle generously with fine shredded coconut, before leaving them to set. Then when you make your penguins, fix them on in place of the peppermints for fluffy pom pom earmuffs!
