Different ingredients you can try!
Cream Cheese: Use Neufchâtel cheese for a lighter option, or try different flavored cream cheese (like garden veggie) for a twist.
Cheddar Cheese: Sub in pepper jack, Colby, or smoked gouda for a different flavor.
Spices: Add a dash of cayenne or chipotle powder for some kick, or use ranch seasoning for kid-friendly flavor.
Cheese Crackers: Goldfish, Cheez-Its, or any cheese-flavored cracker works. You can also use panko or crushed Ritz for a buttery coating.
Variations Sweet & Savory: Mix in a little honey or cranberries for a sweet-savory bite.
Bacon Lovers: Stir in crumbled bacon bits or chopped ham into the cheese mixture.
Mini Jalapeño Popper Balls: Add finely diced jalapeño and a touch of cumin.
Pumpkin Spice Theme: Want a fun twist? Add a small amount of canned pumpkin and swap cheddar for creamier cheese, like goat or brie.
Tips & Tricks! Soften cream cheese fully before mixing to avoid lumps.
Use gloves or lightly oiled hands to shape balls neatly and prevent sticking.
Chill before rolling in crumbs so the mixture firms up and holds shape better.
Store cheese balls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3–4 days. Add pretzel "stems" just before serving to avoid sogginess.
Be sure not to freeze, as they can become watery or grainy after thawing.
Make ahead: Mix and roll the cheese balls a day ahead, store them without coating, then roll in crackers and garnish just before serving.
2. Deviled potato bites
Deviled Potatoes are a fun twist on the classic deviled egg, using tender baby potatoes as the base. Filled with a creamy, tangy yolk-inspired mixture, they’re a flavorful and unique appetizer or side dish. Can be made vegan or not!
Serves approx: 20-30 (depending on potato size)
Prep time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 12-20 mins
Down time: 5-10 mins
You will need
• A piping bag
• 1 lb baby potatoes
• ¼ cup regular or vegan mayonnaise
• 1 ½ tsp dijon mustard
• ½ tsp pepper
• ¼ tsp salt
• Parsley to top
To begin, bring a large pot of water to a boil, then add the potatoes and cook over medium-high heat until they are fork tender, about 12-20 minutes depending on the size of your potatoes.
Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 5-10 minutes so they are easier to slice and handle.
Cut the potatoes in half, then use a small spoon to remove a scoop from the middle of each potato, then add the scooped potato to a medium bowl.
You will also add the entire filling from 4-5 potatoes so that you’re able to fill all of the deviled potato halves. Mash the potatoes a bit with a fork.
Then add the mayonnaise, mustard, and seasonings to the potatoes in the bowl
Mash until you have a creamy filling.
Add the filling to a piping bag, snip of the end and pipe into the center of the potatoes.
Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley or your favourite fall toppings to finish.
