How to make Ghost Meatball Sliders

These Ghost Meatball Sliders are a fun and spooky twist on classic meatball sandwiches! Soft Hawaiian rolls are filled with warm meatballs and marinara sauce, topped with melted mozzarella ghosts and little black olive eyes.

They're easy to make and perfect for Halloween parties, game day, or a festive family dinner.

Ghost Meatball Sliders serves: 12 sliders

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 30 minutes

Total time: 40 minutes

You will need

• 1 (12-count) package savory butter Hawaiian rolls

• 2 tbsp butter

• 1/2 tsp garlic powder

• 12 frozen meatballs, thawed

• 1/2 cup marinara sauce

• 12 mozzarella cheese slices

• 1 black olive, or black olive slices

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Remove the rolls from the package and place them on a baking sheet.

2. Use a knife to cut a square out of the center of each roll, making sure not to cut all the way to the bottom.

3. Melt the butter and stir in the garlic powder. Brush the melted butter mixture over the tops and into the centers of the rolls.

4. Place one thawed meatball into the center of each slider, making sure the meatball sticks up slightly so it can hold the cheese in place.

Spoon marinara sauce over each meatball.

5. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are heated through.

6. While the sliders are cooking, trim the mozzarella cheese slices to fit over the tops of the sliders. Cut the black olive into small pieces to make the ghost eyes.

7. Remove the sliders from the oven and place a trimmed mozzarella slice over each meatball.

Return to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

8. Place the black olive eyes onto each melted cheese ghost before serving.

Tips and tricks!

• Make sure the meatballs are thawed before assembling the sliders so they heat through evenly.

• Don't cut all the way through the rolls when making the center opening.

Substitutions: Use vegan/vegetarian meatballs to make them meat free. Provolone or any melting cheese can be used instead of mozzarella.

Variations: Add a sprinkle of Italian seasoning or grated Parmesan to the butter mixture for extra flavor. You can also use sliced black olives for larger or smaller ghost eyes.

Storage: Store leftover sliders covered in the refrigerator and reheat before serving.
