Chocolate Turtle Caramel Apple Pops serve: 8 to 10 pops
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 0 minutes
Total time: 20 minutes
You will need
• 3 Granny Smith apples
• 8–10 popsicle sticks
• 10 oz milk or dark melting chocolate
• ½ cup chopped pecans
• 1 tsp milk
• 5 oz caramel squares (about half a 10 oz bag)
• Optional: flaky sea salt, for garnish
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice the apples horizontally into ¼–½ inch thick rounds, giving you about 10 slices total.
Remove any seeds, make a small slit in the bottom of each slice, and insert a popsicle stick.
Heat the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each one until smooth.
2. Dip each apple slice into the melted chocolate, coating both sides.
Shake off the excess chocolate and place the apple pops on the prepared baking sheet.
Working quickly before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle the apple pops with chopped pecans.
Let them sit at room temperature until the chocolate fully sets.
3. Add the caramel squares and milk to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each one until the caramel is smooth and melted.
4. Drizzle the melted caramel over the chocolate-dipped apples.
Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired, then let cool until set and enjoy.
Tips and tricks! • These apple pops are best enjoyed the same day for the crunchiest apples.
• You can swap the pecans for chopped walnuts or almonds, or even cookie or graham pieces, if preferred.
• You could make these as a fun autumnal activity with kids and let them decorate with all kinds of toppings!
• Let the chocolate coating set before adding the caramel drizzle so the layers stay neat, and allow the finished pops to set before serving.
